Corporation for the Northern Rockies (CNR) is working
to increase the visibility of sustainable local producers
and the business establishments that carry their products.
This program publicizes the story behind the people, products
and services involving local food in the area. It links Montana
products with Montana restaurants in the Gallatin Valley, Park
County and Big Sky areas. The Montana Farm to Restaurant Connection:
- Promotes local restaurants.
- Promotes local, sustainable Montana producers.
- Supports the economic multiplier effect.*
- Strengthens our local, sustainable agricultural communities.**
- Educates consumers and diners about locally grown food.
- Encourages the consumption of nutritious and healthy foods.
* The economic "multiplier effect" (the number of
times a single dollar is circulated in a community) is higher
for family farms than other business sectors. Consumers
can increase it by supporting our producers while they support
our communities.
